Who runs this
VolumeWeightCalc is built and maintained by a cross-border e-commerce seller who has shipped consumer goods from Asia to marketplaces in the United States and China — and paid more than a few surprise dimensional-weight bills along the way. The calculators here started as an internal spreadsheet for checking courier invoices against forwarder quotes; we turned it into a free tool because every seller we know was doing the same math by hand, often with the wrong divisor.
How we keep the numbers right
Every divisor and billing rule on this site is checked against the carrier's published documentation, and the DIM divisor chart carries a last-verified date. The calculation engine is covered by an automated test suite (including the per-piece vs per-shipment billing difference and mixed-unit conversions). If you find a value that doesn't match your rate card, tell us — corrections ship within days.
Why we built this
Most shipping bills surprise people because of volumetric weight. We built a tool that gives the real billable number in under ten seconds, with the same billing rules carriers actually use — including the per-piece vs per-shipment difference most calculators ignore.
